It is Hallow’s Eve. I found the cabin. It is a dark day.
This solves a mystery, nevertheless, and one I know would have eaten at my heart had I gone to America without. Some part of me is glad to have done it, I know, yet I cannot shake the feeling that I have lost another part of myself, the one holding onto that childhood image of the innocent Otto, who went unchanged by time."
I’ve always had a tendency towards melancholy, even as a child. I have no reason, though my memory does falter for it. Many nights I have laid, unrested, clutching at my bed-dressings and praying for sleep to take me. Many nights it doesn’t. When I was 17 years old I laid awake until the morning, and though my memory of that night is fractured and mist-covered I nonetheless maintain the emotion of it, the agony of watching the sun rise through my window still remains. I cannot begin to imagine how my life will be tempered in those same flames in the years to come, but I have no doubt they will pass in a blur of similarly painful recollections, all the intricacies greater now that Otto is gone. The world presently appears in shades of grey, and the neverland of yesterday is but a far-off dream, though as when waking this dream fades by the second. There is nothing I can do. Have you these hauntings within the confines of your curse, spirits, and do they burn you so? I struggle against the cage of flesh I’ve been placed in, Lord, and long for a peace which now may never come. The mission waits. I must avenge you, little one. The only variable that remains now is time, and time is never enough. My only hope is that my journal has heeded my sacrifice and accepted it. Failing this, I am a lone catamaran on an unlit sea, my brother-ship lost to the waves. Poseidon has turned his eager eye on me, though no cyclops have I slain, nor tide tempted, and he has found me stranded in the Aegean without a dream of a hope. Brother, Adam, and Bavarian, I call upon you now as a lost soul in its most desperate hour. Communicate with me, through me, I beg you. I am alone. I am so alone. But I may yet have a chance with you as a crew. Help me.
